At ExploreLearning, our K-12 STEM solutions grow with your students, from kindergarten and spiraling up to AP 12. We make math and science learning serious fun. What is serious fun? It’s research-driven solutions for the most critical STEM learning needs.
“Cambium as a whole, and ExploreLearning in particular, strives to ensure that we are using data as much as possible to quantify our products’ impact on improving student outcomes,” said Head of Science Solutions and Research, David E. Kanter, Ph.D. “Having this data, and doing the research to get it, isn’t a goal in and of itself, but rather the byproduct of us having set ourselves the goal to have a positive impact on students through our products. We aim for a transformative level of positive impact that we know products like ours can help realize for all students. Having set for ourselves such a goal, we as a company need to be able to see clearly if we’re indeed achieving our goal, and, if not, make improvements. Research is critical to us being able to do all this.”

ExploreLearning Senior Researcher Megan Conrad, Ph.D.
Dr. Kanter partners with ExploreLearning Senior Researcher Megan Conrad, Ph.D., to conduct systematic and reflective studies. Both have spent their careers in academia as researchers in learning sciences and cognitive psychology with proven track records of peer-reviewed presentations and publications on approaches for improving student learning. “Research is how we create products that are uniquely adapted to today’s classroom context, cost-effective, and maximally effective at improving learning for all students,” said Dr. Conrad.
How can administrators and teachers find these studies? Our new resource center has everything in one place, making it easy to explore the impacts of our math and science solutions.
The research says it all: ExploreLearning's data-driven insights and impact on student learning
Research and development affect every aspect of education, from decision-making and policy to planning and teaching strategies. Simply put, research helps educators understand what works in the classroom and what doesn’t. With research a priority, ExploreLearning delivers edtech resources that align with current educational expectations and best practices.
“Efficacy research can help teachers and administrators make informed decisions about product adoption, instilling confidence in which solutions are effective and efficient for your students’ needs,” said Dr. Conrad. “Our research team regularly conducts efficacy studies, gathering data on the impact of our products through collaborative relationships with district leaders so that we can show you we are committed to fulfilling our mission and delivering on our promises.”
This research is critical to our products for informing teaching practices, addressing critical issues in education, and ultimately improving student learning. It’s about what teachers can accomplish in the classroom every single day through strengthened pedagogy and evidence-driven instructional change.
“Even more importantly, we know that K-12 decision-makers are faced with a wide range of choices, and while they don’t necessarily need more solutions to choose from, they do need information to be able to clearly know the value of any given solution against the outcomes they seek to deliver on for their students, said Dr. Kanter. “The edtech sector frankly owes K-12 decision makers and teachers this information, communicated in concrete terms to support these folks easily doing apples-to-apples comparisons when investing their districts' resources and teachers’ and students’ time into the use of our products. There is simply no latitude for a do-over as a student progresses through their schooling, so we all together need to have a high degree of certainty about the value students are receiving. And research is how we establish that certainty.”
With our math and science solutions, students learn by doing effectively and engagingly—and build the critical skills (and confidence!) they need for lifelong success in STEM. ExploreLearning makes math and science learning serious fun and has the research to back it up.
