Here Is Every Movie Releasing in Theaters in August 2024 (2024)

Filmmaking has evolved considerably over the years, giving rise to new genres and subgenres, such as horror, Westerns, and sci-fi. In the first half of 2024, plenty of intriguing films have been released in theaters, including Dune: Part Two, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, and Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes.

Now, as we enter the second half of the year and summer begins to come to a close, we still have several blockbusters ready to hit the big screen. While July saw the release of films such as Longlegs, Twisters, and Despicable Me 4, the following month seems equally exciting, with a romance drama based on a New York Bestseller novel and a much-anticipated Alien sequel. With that in mind, here's a list of every movie coming to theaters in August 2024.

Trap

While M. Night Shyamalan has always been a hit-or-miss director, when he does succeed, his films are quite memorable, as proven by The Sixth Sense, Split, and Signs. This time, the renowned filmmaker came up with a new concept with Trap, an upcoming psychological thriller written, directed, and produced by himself.

The film, starring Josh Harnett, takes place during a pop concert. A father and his daughter are locked inside as police set up a trap to apprehend a notorious serial killer known as The Butcher (not to be confused with Billy from The Boys). However, as the trailer indicates, Harnett's character is the killer, and he must avoid the police and outsmart their every move if he wants to avoid being caught. Trap will be released in theaters on Aug. 2.
