SLIDERS - are they needed for our league? (2024)

Lots of SIM leagues are relying on SLIDERS to make gameplay more realistic - what do you think?

and if you think SLIDERS will help make our league realistic - what SLIDERS do we change (and how...) to accomplish this?

BTW - just noticed that STANDARD SLIDERS (the sliders that all leagues are set with) are already modified...

SLIDERS are normally all set at 50 but player skill is reduced considerably...

I think this may be how the game differentiates between ALLMADDEN and ALLPRO... should be interesting

Ypu havent even bought the game (or played it...) - u need to play the game before you comment - or at least go to operation sports forums and read all the posts saying how OVERPOWERED the run game is - and how terrible the defense is - and the workaround sliders can bring to elliminate it...

thyere will be sliders adjustments - we have been researching which ones we will make - stay tuned for details...

we have to start somewhere - and Hon put a lot effort into this (plus he knows the game...) - These sliders are a good place to start (and its natural for them to evolve...) - If you look at all the successful SIM leagues in M25 - they all are using some combo of sliders...

Lets keep the comments coming - MAKE LOTS OF OBSERVATIONS - and after a significant sample size we can draw furthur conclusions and adjust sliders according - THE REPEAT THIS PROCESS until we have sliders we think are ideal!

On a serious note, these sliders are all based on heavy research by guys that have been doing it for many many Maddens and have the time to test every little detail at Operation Sports. I tweaked them slightly but not much at all.

Also, to say adjust penalty sliders and nothing else also shows a lack of knowledge. The penalty sliders effect gameplay in a way that's almost buggy and the people who researched this have already proven it. Theya re not JUST penalty sliders.

Okay, I apologize for spazzing out on you guys. lol... The name calling was definitely unnecessary.

But I didn't say "online ranked games play realistic", I said the gameplay online is pretty realistic... My point was that I didn't have a problem with the actual gameplay itself, therefore I didn't see the need to adjust the sliders, especially before the league even started.

How can the "experts" justify customizing the sliders on a brand new game, with a well publicized NEW game engine, only 2-3 weeks after the game launched? How can anyone master a game in less than a month, especially with limited competition because I'm sure they had the game before everyone else? That is the issue I have with this whole slider situation.

Are we using custom sliders because the game is heavily flawed? Or are we customizing the sliders because the game is significantly different from 13 and we are too lazy to practice and make adjustments to our antiquated style of play??

Let's not forget, this is a video game. It will never be 100% realistic...

And in online ranked games, I have yet to see a bunch of outlandish PI, holding, or offsides calls, to the point where the sliders needed to be lowered. Penalties are a part of the game. Just ask the Jets and Bucs fans. lol... BUT, I have seen users (and cpu defenders) get away with blatant PI by blocking his route and/or running into the receiver to stop him from catching the ball.

Charlie the penalty sliders aren't tweaked because of problems with penalties they are tweaked because they effect gameplay such as how well defenders react in coverage and how well o line blocks etc

You have to remember, much of what is in madden doesn't work the way it's SUPPOSED to so penalty sliders are not what they appear to be.
